Want Visitors?
This weekend we have two events your friends and neighbors might want to attend. The first is the Spring Fling (on Saturday). The second is the Easter service on Sunday morning. But they need to hear about it and most people like to be invited. So, here are a couple of helps you can use to invite your friends and family.
Spring Fling:
In Person: “This Saturday we are setting up a bunch of games and having a community cookout. The kids will love it and we are even having a firetruck. I’ll be there, and I’d love to have you and the family come by and let the kids play for a bit.”
Facebook: Go to the Event Link at https://www.facebook.com/events/1456826711884547 and click the “Going” button. Then select the “Invite” button, select a bunch of friends (or “Select all”), and then push the “Send Invites” button at the bottom.
Easter:
In Person: “This Sunday we are having an Easter Service at the church, if you aren’t already attending an Easter Service, I’d love to have you join me.”
Facebook: Go to https://www.facebook.com/reel/1335064800454491 and click the little arrow in the lower right corner. Add a short note like “Would love to have you all join me this Sunday!” Then click the “Share Now” button.
IMPORTANT: when you see a new face this weekend, be sure to introduce yourself and say “Hi, we are really glad you are here today!” 😊
From the Desk of Pastor Tom
The purpose for the Lord’s Supper mirrors the purpose for the Passover celebration yet with some crucial refinements. Where the Passover remembered God’s promises and looked forward to their fulfillment in the Messiah, the fulfillment has now been realized. No longer are the children of God called to just remember God’s promises, instead the Lord’s Supper calls believers to remember the fulfilled promises of God seen in the Messiah, Jesus Christ. His death on the cross superseded the expectant symbology of the Old Testament sacrificial system. Those who take part in the Lord’s Supper now look forward to Christ’s victorious second return. Andrew David Naselli said it well when he wrote, “the Lord’s Supper should be a happy occasion that celebrates the gospel: ‘The Supper is a victory lap—announcing the triumph of Christ over the powers of sin, death, and Satan.’” The purpose of the Lord’s Supper is to “proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” Let every child of God rejoice every time we remember the death, burial, and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ!
