🍽️ Potluck Lunch for the Hays – July 26th

Join us as we gather to celebrate Brian and Michele Hay and their 18 wonderful years with us at Eastside! While we are sad to see them go, we are excited for their next chapter. Let’s send them off with love and a delicious potluck lunch.

Bring a dish to share, and let’s enjoy this time of fellowship together. There will be plenty of food and warm memories. Save the date—July 26th!

📖 Biblical Insight Questions

1. A New Creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)

  • Why is it significant that “the old has passed away” and “the new has come”?
  • How does this verse redefine a believer’s identity?
  • Why can only God accurately tell us who we truly are?

2. Transformation, Not Information

  • The sermon emphasizes that Christianity is about transformation, not simply knowing facts about God. Why is that distinction important?
  • How does genuine salvation produce visible change in a person’s life?
  • Why is relationship with Christ different from merely attending church or knowing Scripture?

3. Grace Changes Everything

  • What does God’s grace accomplish that human effort never can?
  • Why is grace essential to understanding our identity?
  • How does the gospel free believers from living under guilt and shame?

1. Leaving the Past Behind

  • Why is it often difficult to stop defining ourselves by our past?

2. Showing Grace to Others

  • We have received grace and should extend grace to others. Why is that sometimes difficult?
  • How can remembering your own story help you be more gracious toward people struggling?
  • What opportunities has God given you to reflect His grace this week?

3. Sharing Your Story

  • Why are personal testimonies often powerful tools for sharing the gospel?
  • How can your story point people beyond yourself to Christ?

1. What Defines You?

  • When you think about yourself, what identity comes to mind first?
  • What does that reveal about your heart?
  • Are there past experiences, sins, or labels that still influence the way you see yourself?
  • What truths from God’s Word challenge those false identities?
  • What would it look like to leave false labels behind?
