Church Directories
The new church directories are here!!!! Each entry is a reminder of the friendships we’ve formed, the stories we’ve shared, and the faith that binds us together. As you look through this directory, may it serve as an invitation to reach out, connect, and cultivate meaningful relationships. Please take one home and use it to pray for each other and to build friendships by reaching out and connecting.
Spring Fling
Be here at 10am this Saturday to get ready to welcome the community. There will be many opportunities to run games, serve food, and talk with visitors. Keep praying for visitors, inviting friends and family, and liking the social media posts. Can’t wait to see who comes!!!!
Easter Sunday!!!!
Plan to be at church at 10am for Bible Study and then at 11am for the worship service. Also, be praying for us to have joy in Christ’s victory and visitors to come hear us rejoice in Christ’s resurrection.
Pregnancy Resource Center Banquet
May 5th – This is a key fundraiser for the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Statesville, and we are privileged to partner with them each year to help provide servers for the banquet. If you can seat guests and serve drinks or if you are interested in attending the banquet, please let Amy Horton know. to help make this event extraordinary and impactful.
Pastor’s Graduation Celebration
Join us in honoring Pastor Tom’s graduation with a special celebration!
You are warmly invited to gather at Chip and Pam Edwards’ home (the Church Directory has the address 🙂) on May 18th, between 4 PM and 7 PM. Hotdogs will be provided. Please bring a side dish or beverage to share as we come together to celebrate this milestone in Pastor Tom’s journey.
Let’s celebrate this amazing accomplishment together.
From the Desk of Pastor Tom
There are some people that suggest Easter is derived from historic pagan rituals. However, even though this is a popular secular idea (and is popular among some Christians as well) it is not true. So is term “Easter” derived from a pagan holiday? Should we avoid using the name “Easter”? Is this name not suitable for Christianity or to mark Jesus resurrection? Many people think this way because some have suggested that the name easter is linked with either a goddess Eostre or Ostara. But there is no solid evidence that those goddesses ever existed in any religion or were ever worshipped. Other’s suggest the pagan connection because of the springtime setting of Easter which coincides with several holidays from other religions. However, Easter has been connected with the Jewish Passover since all four Gospel accounts connect Jesus crucifixion and resurrection with the Jewish festival of Passover which occurs in the spring. We could spend a lot more time here, but I just want to reassure anyone wondering that Easter was not co-opted from some pagan ritual. And all of those accusations are based on hearsay. If you would like more information on the origins of Easter along with some of the connected symbology (Bunnies, eggs, New Life, etc.) I would encourage you to take a few minutes to review the links below.
