John 2 — And His Disciples Believed

At the wedding in Cana, Jesus turns water into wine — “the first of his signs” — and John tells us the result: “His disciples believed in him” (v.11). But belief in this Gospel is not a one-time event. Later John adds that after the resurrection “his disciples remembered… and they believed” (v.22) — a faith that deepened as they looked back and the pieces fell into place. And Scripture is honest about the wobble in between: these same men would watch Jesus feed thousands and still doubt. Today’s reading sits with what real, growing faith actually looks like — believing, forgetting, remembering, and believing again.
