Acts 9: Brother Saul

Read Acts 9:10-19 and put yourself in Ananias’s sandals. Jesus tells him to go to a house on Straight Street and find Saul of Tarsus, the man who came to Damascus to arrest believers like him. Ananias pushes back: “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints.” Jesus doesn’t argue. He says, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine.” And Jesus has already been at work on both ends. Saul is praying, and he’s already seen Ananias coming in a vision. So Ananias goes. He lays his hands on the man the whole church was afraid of, and the first words out of his mouth are “Brother Saul.” Ananias didn’t save Saul. Jesus did that on the road. Ananias just went, and called him family. So here’s the question: who’s the person you’ve already decided Jesus can’t reach?
