Lunch and a Movie for all Women – July 18

Join us for a fun outing! We’ll meet at the church at 11:15 AM to carpool or ride in the church van. Lunch will be at a restaurant near the Discovery Place, followed by a 20-minute IMAX movie about dolphins at 2:20 PM. Sign-up is required. For more details, contact Nannette.

This is a welcoming 4-week class designed to help you discover who we are, what we believe, and how to take your next step together in following Jesus. You’ll hear the story and mission of Eastside, explore the foundations of our faith, and learn how community, discipleship, and serving fit into life together as a church. Whether you’re brand new or ready to get more connected, this class is your pathway into community, growth, and service.

Discussion Questions for Identity and Sexuality

📖 Biblical Insight Questions

1. God’s Design for Sexuality (Genesis 1:27–28; 2:24–25)

  • Why is it important to remember that sexuality was God’s idea and that He called it good?
  • How does God’s design provide both freedom and healthy boundaries?

2. Identity: Who Defines Us? (1 Corinthians 6:12–20)

  • What does Paul teach about the dignity of our bodies in this passage?
  • Why is it significant that believers are described as temples of the Holy Spirit?
  • How does this passage challenge the idea that our desires determine our identity?

🔨 Practical Application Questions

1. Truth and Compassion

  • Why is clarity and compassion important for Christians to have when discussing sexuality?
  • How can truth become harmful without love? How can compassion become harmful without truth?
  • What does it look like to reflect the character of Jesus within difficult topics?

2. Living in Holiness

  • Our culture often teaches that romantic or sexual fulfillment is necessary for happiness. How does Scripture challenge that belief?
  • What practical habits help pursue holiness when culture celebrates sexual self-expression?
  • Why are accountability, prayer, Scripture, and Christian community important in this area?
  • How can we encourage one another without creating an atmosphere of shame?
  • Why must we not address only outward behaviors but also our hearts and minds?
  • How can we replace unhealthy desires with a greater love for Christ?

1. Where Is Your Identity Rooted?

  • When you think about who you are, what most shapes your identity?
  • Are there desires, struggles, accomplishments, or relationships that have become more defining than your identity in Christ?
  • How does the gospel offer a better foundation for identity than culture does?
  • What is the danger of building identity around feelings or desires?
  • How does the promise of God’s forgiveness through Christ bring hope and freedom?

2. Areas of Growth

  • What keeps people from seeking help when they need it?
  • Are there areas of struggle where you need greater honesty with God and fellow believer?
  • What step toward freedom could you take with your heart, mind, and body this week?
